You’ll spy the space aloft amongst the pine trees, with willow branches draped around the circumference like a glistening green fringe. Up the handcrafted staircase, you’ll find a trap door, that you can lower behind you to shut yourself away from the world. The lounge, a deeply calm and inviting space, has floor to ceiling windows, and a wood burner for the chillier nights.
Despite having a generously equipped and stylishly furnished kitchen, Pomeroy also sports an outdoor kitchen area, with its own sink, BBQ, pizza oven and even an outdoor fridge – so either make an intimate meal for two in the warm confines of the kitchen or take to the balcony to enjoy food al fresco, with a view of fields towards the vineyard and the cathedral. The deck is coincidentally where you’ll also find the grand bathtub with an air spa system, large enough for two, which you can enjoy as an end of the day treat, staring out on the skyline glistening with stars as it fades from blue to black. The bath could also serve as a welcome rinse after a spell in the Finnish electric sauna on the deck, should you not be tempted to use the double outdoor showers just outside it. Were every meticulously crafted detail of this treehouse not enough, there is one last surprise, a pièce de résistance, hiding away in plain sight. If you follow the winding turn of the spiral staircase inside, you’ll emerge at the roof terrace – an enclosed square of relaxing real estate, draped in tumbling willow leaves, with seating by a gas fire pit, an outdoor tv built into the wall, and even a dumb waiter to bring snacks up from the main deck and back again, as well as a breakfast bar for taking your meals to new heights. Pomeroy isn’t just a mind-blowing treehouse stay, it’s the chance to visit your dreams.

If travelling on the M4, exit at Junction 18 for Bath and follow the A39 to Wells.
Directions from Wells:
Take the Cheddar Road (A371) west out of Wells. Just as the houses on your left end you will reach the cemetery (Elm Close), bear off to the left onto the Wedmore Road (B3139). After a mile you will pass the Burcott Inn on your right. Keep going for another 400 yards and you will see the Pheasant Inn at a fork in the road. Take the minor road (Castle Lane) on your left signposted Fenny Castle. Follow this, past the vineyard (go down the hill between the vineyard and the red brick cottage), you will go along some minor bends, then a sharper right hand bend. Within 100 yards is a junction with a farm on your left. Keep going straight on, you will pass Honeymead Farm. Only another 250 yards to go now. Watch out because the Lane narrows and is popular with horses, cyclists and walkers. After 200 yards you will see the tall firs which are the northern boundary of the property. The entrance is another 50 yards on the left hand side at the bottom of the small hill. Brown gates and Topiary? Yes you’ve made it to The Orchard!
